Those are the new bright and hot pools. there are five different pools to choose from here and all are nice and warm. I think their temperature ranges between about 30° and 33°. From here you can little view out to the beach. You can even see the pier which just looks so spectacular. you can rent a locker for around $2 in New Zealand or you can store your stuff in a cabin for free.
we recommend visiting the hot PS here in New Brighten. this is such an incredible thing to do particularly on a cold Winter’s day. for a local cost between 1 and $ 18 depending on the time and for a visiting person I think it’s between 17 and $21.definitely worth the 2 hours. It’s nice warm beautiful water right by the beach. they’ve even got a plunge Pool, which is way too cold. there’s also a cafe that you can visit if you want to warm up that little bit more after your dip in the pool.

my favorite is flying because they’ve always been my favorite. they’re so much fun, I’d climbed up the most enormous slide. seriously, this thing was so massive, you have to climb up all these different layers of netting and when you get to the top you’re so high. and you get to go down a huge curly slide it’s so fun and also the view up here is amazing like we’re so high up. seriously, it was an awesome playground, Margaret Mahy Park also had a selection of food trucks and public toilets available.

Among the great places to visit in Christ Church Another place is right in the heart of the city is Riverside Market, and we just so happen to visit during their mid-winter Christmas celebration. the timing couldn’t have been better and it’s so cool they even set up a fake snowing station outside. like an entrance to a market, this is so cool. Riverside Market is one of the best spots in the entire city. if you’re a foodie then this is absolutely where you need to visit. there are so many different Cuisine choices available and it’s all housed Under One Roof.
The ground floor is dedicated to food and upstairs you can choose to people-watch or sit down and enjoy your meal. live music is often playing here and there just such a good Ambience. it’s such a good vibe it’s just overall a cool space. it’s the market inside as you can see like the building, itself is stunning. it is a huge loft-like space it’s just massive and smells good here is jam-packed with so much delicious food and you can find everything.

#7. Taylors Mistake Beach
We arrived at one of my favorite beaches in all of Christ Church. the story of the name Taylor mistake is interesting. there was a ship captain, his name was Edward Taylor and he was looking for somewhere to buy some real estate. he was looking for a place called Pigeon Bay, and he found a place which was called St Vincent’s Bay. he showed up here and bought it, hence the name Taylor Mistake named after Captain Edward Taylor himself.
it’s a beautiful beach and stunning. it’s a popular surfing spot there are lots of dogs here, lots of sand and lots of surfers. there’s car parking available here. there’s an ice cream shop and we had my favorite American nuts. Walk In Christ Church Godly heads. The Godly head walk like literally my favorite walk in all of Christ Church. you’re around the corner it gets more and more beautiful there are sheep here, and there are amazing views you have to come and visit The Godly Headlock and just over there like that mountain.
you can see right in the distance all dusted with snow that is Kora. I can’t even express how far away that is. we can see so far, the visibility is amazing from up. here I seriously can’t get over the views. here it’s so beautiful and the color of the water is stunning like the skies are blue, but nothing compares to that water. it looks almost turquoise so the walk takes you down there and around there. and if you’re off the path you could even visit Boulder Bay which is where we were. it’s lined with these beautiful old batches. this one was built in 1908.
#8. Canterbury Museum
another best place to visit in Christ Church is the Canterbury Music Museum. usually, it’s housed at this really beautiful Old Stone building, but at the moment it’s being renovated. in this old art gallery, I’m kind of excited to see how it looks. and its batter thing is that’s free, so that’s another huge plus. let’s go and explore the Canterbury Museum.
we loved visiting the Canterbury Museum it was quite a small space but the way it had been so lovingly curated made. it feels like an art gallery and you would appreciate everything that was there. and if you know Canterbury Museum in its usual location you’re bound to see lots of familiar objects when you visit.
such as some of the poets’ Shell House and their skeletons, seriously so cool. There are different interactive things in the Museum a ride on a snowmobile that has a screen attached you feel like you’re driving through snow it’s awesome.
#9. Riccarton Rotary Market
Another place on our list to visit in Christ Church is the Riccarton Rotary Sunday market. If you’re looking for something to do in Christ Church and you love markets then you need to come and check out Riccarton Rotary Market. it’s every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2: p.m. You can find lots of different Food, Crafts, and second-hand items.
we looked around the whole Market it’s a little bit quieter during winter and it’s super cold, but there are still lots and lots of stalls I noticed. there are lots of antiques and things for sale. I made my very own purchase here I bought a bracelet which I love. It’s like a little treasure chest and it’s meant to be an antique so that’s cool. along with that lots of food and shopping, you can even get your hair cut right here at the market.
Riccarton Rotary Market is a great place to visit if you’re looking to buy some gifts or anything for people back home there are lots of different handmade items, such as some beautiful-looking soap, and you can even get fresh fruit and vegetables here. there’s so much to choose from I think. there’s every type of food here, there’s also Indian food, and there are gluten-free options. we’ve also seen a hungi which is like a traditional mowy meal where the food is cooked underground. I can’t express it like there’s everything here it’s so cool.

#10. New Regent Street
One of the most beautiful streets in all of the tourist places to visit in Christ Church is called New Regent Street. it’s all painted in lovely pastel colors. new Regent Street was built in the 1930s in a Spanish mission architectural style. it’s a beautiful spot popular with tourists and you even get to see the tram drive right down the middle of the road.
it is so cool seriously it’s so stunning and a must-visit place when you come to Christ Church. and it’s lined with lots of lovely cafes and restaurants. there are even some tattoo parlors. this is the Christ Church Town Square.
one of the most important things about it is this is where Christ Church gets its name. Christ Church Cathedral building, when there were big earthquakes here, unfortunately, fell into disrepair. we’re still not sure what’s happening with it at the moment, but it’s an icon of the city so at the moment. there are big walls around the cathedral-like there’s some information about it about the upcoming project.
#11. Art Gallery
Another amazing place to visit right here in Christ Church New Zealand is the art gallery this amazing building is like seriously so stunning and inside it’s full of lots and lots of beautiful art. Even better it’s all free. we didn’t end up filming inside the art gallery but there are two floors of art. Entry is free and we recommend the gift shop. it’s full of so much good stuff it’s a good place for shopping.
#12. Gondola Ride
For some of the very best views of Christ Church take a trip up the gondola you’re quite literally on top of a volcano and the views are amazing. especially on a good, when the weather is clear. scan this QR code to buy your ticket for a ride on the Gondola. there are lots of cool different bars and restaurants all around Christ Church City.
#13. Christ Church Stadium
There are so many new and different buildings in Christ Church nowadays. another really exciting development that’s happening here it’s not open quite yet, but they’re opening a stadium here. it’s right in the middle of the city. I think it’s going to open in 2025 and it looks spectacular. it’s where you can come to watch all of your rugby games and I think there might be some concerts there.
#14. Red Zone
There are a number of places to visit in Christ Church, but I recommend doing if you’re in Christ Church is visiting the red zone. you probably know that Christ Church had a massive earthquake and it lost lots of its beautiful buildings and of course lots of residential areas as well. this area right here was residential but nothing is allowed to be built here anymore. so nowadays it’s kind of like a giant Park.
you can come here and you can go for a walk, go for a bike ride or even bring your canoe or kayak and just go down the river. it’s a good place if you just really want to get into nature and see lots of animals. you can see Ducks, geese, and swans. you can still see lots of evidence that there was a devastating earthquake.
here some of the roads are in pretty bad shape so literally, the reason that the trees look quite sporadically laid out is they used to be someone’s Garden. which is worth a visit, come and see the Red Zone in Christ Church.
#15. punting On the Aven River
It’s good another iconic thing to do in Christ Church is punting on the Aven River. you board the boat at the stunning stripy boat sheds in town then take a Scenic trip down the main river in Christ Church. In winter they even give you a blanket and hot water bottle to stay warm. scan this QR code to buy your ticket.
#16. Observatory
In the list of places to visit in Christ Church another unique place is the observatory. if you come to the art center on a Friday night they have different sessions, where you can go up inside. At the observatory, they look at the stars, and the whole session is led by the University of Canterbury students. it looks like such a clear night as you have never been in there before.
the observatory is being completely renovated so it’s called the To Te telescope and it just got put back into the observatory last year in 2023. so it’s exciting to finally see it all up. and working and also it’s cool seeing the art center at night time. the art center used to be Canterbury University, so like when you look around you can see all these little hints of its past. such as you can see little lecture halls, different names, and stuff even the observatory.

inside Turanga Christ Church Central Library one of the biggest hacks is this is the best view you can get of Christ Church Cathedral. you need to just come on up to the top. I think it’s floor four, there’s a balcony and you get the best view. you can see all the work they’re doing at the Cathedral. As well as that great view the library’s interior is stunning too.
you can enjoy the selection of books and try the cafe and there’s even a little playground inside too. and don’t worry they have an elevator you can go straight up to see that balcony yourself you don’t even have to take the stairs.
